Interaction

Manually positioning variables

Variables can be manually moved by clicking and dragging. You can also make variables stay put where you place them by double-clicking on them. Stationary variables can then be dragged and dropped to a desired position, or released again by another double-click. These features are useful for finding alternative resting states.

Hiding variables

One or more selected variables can be hidden from the display through the right-click menu. This is useful for revealing the internal structure of clusters of variables.

Segmentation

A segment is any subset of the cases in your data. Creating a segment in CorrExplore creates a new map of the data using only the cases in that segment. To create a new segment, select a variable, right click, and select 'Segment by selected variable.' This will bring up a window to choose how to create segments from the variable. Existing segments are listed as tabs. You can right-click on them to remove them or rename them, click and drag them to re-order them, and press control-tab or control-shift-tab to cycle between them. Try switching back and forth between two segments and find a variable that moves a lot. Now select this variable with a single left click and switch segments again while it is selected. This is a good way to find the differences between segments that explain the variable's movement.
